iTero Oral Scanners

iTero scanners are used to capture pictures inside the mouth,
which create a 3D model of the teeth and gums.

Using iTero scanner technology, your dentist can create a digital 3D map of your teeth in minutes, which you’ll be able to view in real-time.

If you’re considering Invisalign braces, you’ll even be able to preview your new smile on screen before you start your treatment, using the Invisalign treatment outcome simulator.

What are Itero Scans used for?

iTero scanners are commonly used for invisaling tooth straightening but can also be used for other restorative treatments including dental implants, crown and bridges

iTero scans reduce the need for traditional methods such as taking impressions, reducing your time in the dentist chair, and making your treatment experience more comfortable.

What happens during an iTero Scan?

Your dentist will use an iTero ‘wand’ – a small, handheld scanner to capture over 6,000 images a second of your teeth and gums.

The wand is minimally-invasive, so you’ll be able to breathe comfortably during the scanning process.

Some scans can be taken in as little as 60 seconds* and the 3D model is generated instantly, so you’ll be able to see a detailed scan of your mouth straight away.

What are the benefits of iTero scanners?

See your new smile

Your scan can be used with the Invisalign treatment outcome simulator to show what your new smile could look like after treatment.

Fast

iTero scans can facilitate faster delivery times of your treatment plan and you can see your model on the screen in real-time.

Accurate

A precise 3D model of your teeth and gums which replaces the need for traditional methods such as taking impressions.

iTero and teeth straightening

iTero scans are often used before teeth straightening treatment.

Traditionally, before having orthodontic treatment, a mould of your teeth needs to be taken using a tray filled with impression material. iTero scans eliminate the hassle, mess and discomfort of having these bite impressions taken.

Plus, your dentist can track your treatment progress down to the finest details, easily ensuring a precise fit for your braces. Once your scan is complete, you’ll be able to preview what your straighter smile will look like after treatment using the Invisalign treatment outcome simulator.

iTero scans are most commonly used before Invisalign treatment, as they can facilitate faster delivery times of your Invisalign treatment plan. Invisalign patients who have iTero scans before treatment experience seven times fewer fitting issues with their aligners than patients who have traditional impressions taken.
